Singapore Swimming Proficiency Award (SSPA)

A)  Objectives of SSPA

• To Provide progression for swimming after SwimSafer
• To raise the level of swimming proficiency of students and the general public
• To increase the level of technical expertise among our swimming coaches
• To provide a talent pool for the next generation of Singapore competitive swimmers

    

B)  Levels of Achievement

• A total of 20 certificates and badges can be attained if the swimmer completes all the level. Nonetheless, the swimmer may wish to challenge himself or herself by attempting any particular level of swim test.
• In completion of level 1, 2 or 3, the swimmer has an option to purchase a rainbow certificate and badge.
• All strokes are to be swum in compliance with FINA rules for competitive swimming.
• The minimum criteria - SwimSafer stage 1 / Learn to play / NASSA / SSA Time Trial.

• Centralized test venue :- Toa Payoh Swimming Complex.
• Frequency :- Every quarter [March / June / September / December] on the last weekend of the month
• Time : 9am - 1pm
• Booking of test date can be done via SSA online platform [www.swimming.org.sg], or register your interest with our coaching team.

Just a quick update on our operating hours during this festival seasons :-

Christmas Day (25 December 2013) 

We will be operating as usual on Tuesday, December 24.  There will be no activities & lessons on Christmas Day.

New Year's Day (1 January 2014)

We will be operating as usual on Tuesday, December 31.  There will be no activities & lessons on New Year's Day.

(1) Pre-Competitive Team
Through this Pre-Competitive program, your child will increase his or her proficiency and acquire the skills necessary to enter into our Competitive Team.  If your child has the ability and desire to move to the competitive team, bring his/her in for a free assessment & trial session!

(2) Competitive Team
There is NO substitute for having efficient stroke mechanics.  The longer a person swims incorrectly, the more difficult it becomes to change their habits.  Swimming correctly means swimming smoothly and efficiently.  Essentially we attempt to the waters resistance and maximize the swimmers propulsive forces.  Training the energy system is of secondary importance to learning efficient technique.  Thus swimmers will be allocated into training groups, in according to their ability levels.

NOTICE

This is to inform that CoachCarl Aquatics & Recreational Lifestyle (C.A.R.L.) will cease the "Competitive Squad" pilot project spearheaded by Mr. Lim Teck Chew (also known as Coach Tyson) will effect 14th September 2013.

With immediate effect, as per stated herein on 13th August 2013, Coach Tyson is therefore not authorized to transact any business or collect any monies or handle any accounts on our behalf.  The swim school will not be held liable or responsible for any transaction he undertakes whatsoever.

There will be NO more enrollment during this termination notice from 13th August 2013 to 14th September 2013.  There will be NO fee collection for the month of September 2013, as we will offset this amount from the pre-paid deposit.

At CoachCarl Aquatics & Recreational Lifestyle (C.A.R.L), we offer group and individual swimming lessons for all ages and levels.  Embark and Be Inspired by our friendly, experienced, patient and dedicated NROC (SSC) /  AUSTSWIM certified coaches.

Private swimming classes are also conducted at private condominium swimming pool and private residences in Singapore at special request - kindly make necessary arrangement with the Managing Agent to grant our access.

* Additional classes at other SSC Swimming Pools will be included in accordance to the enrollment intake and on case-to-case basis. Subjected to management decision.
