Adult Swimming Program


At CoachCarl Aquatics and Recreational Lifestyle (C.A.R.L.), our approach is unique – For us, swimming is about wellness. Regular swimming can reduces stress, help in alleviate depression; enhance cardiovascular fitness while increasing muscle strength and endurance, especially for those with injuries. Swimming is a low impact form of exercise that allows adults to continue exercising without fear of strain or re-injury. It’s a whole body, whole being, whole life exercise that makes you feel a whole lot better - CARL is a swim school that will take you there. We take a holistic approach to the science of swimming and a scientific approach to the art of swimming. It is our responsibility for ensuring that we get you the results you seek; it’s not about us or our method – IT’S ABOUT YOU!


C.A.R.L.’s adult swimming program offers group instruction for participant ages 15 and above. We customize our swim program just to cater specially for adult learners. Our professional certified instructor will help you gain the skill – that “life skill” confidently, and guide you to become a better swimmer with graceful swimming strokes confidently with ease!

We only work with a small number of swimmers at a time. So you can be assured of our full energy and undivided attention. This way we can guarantee the quality of teaching. Our swim classes are categorized into 6 swimming levels to maximize your learning experience.



Level 1 :
Aquatics Basic Course (ABC)

Duration : 12 - 16 lessons

Program Details :-
This class is designed for those with little or no experience at all. No matter what is your age, it is never too late to learn how to swim. The goal for this class is to develop confidence and independence in the water. The fundamentals of swimming strokes and mechanics, as well as the basic of water safety skills, such as buoyancy skills, basic sculling action , forward and backward movement, safe entry and exit, gliding, breathing control, proper body positions and personal water safety will be introduced - all aimed to build your water confidence and improve your performance in the water. 
  • Entry / Exit (Technique); 
  • Rhythmic breathing (Inhale and Exhale - develop better control);
  • Floatation on front and back (Develop Balance);
  • Introduction to flutter & breaststroke kicks (Coordination);
  • Submersion (Water Confidence);
  • Streamline / push off and glide on the front and back (Body Position);
  • Basic arm action introduction / Basic Sculling;
  • Basic water survival skill and water safety. 


Level 2 :
Aquatics Basic Intermediate (Breaststroke)

Duration : 16 - 20 lesson

Program Details :-
This class is designed for the well-adjusted swimmer who wants to advance his or her first basic swimming stroke, i.e. breaststroke. You will learn proper stroke mechanics, breathing skills and coordination skills. The general goal of this classes allow you to swim more efficiency and effortlessly - this will definitely make swimming more enjoyable.

Note
* Assessment criteria for level (2 - 5):-
  • Participant(s) must be able to perform all of the above skills mentioned at level 1, comfortably and confidently. 
  • Participants must propel about a distance of 10 meters. 
* The numbers of class duration is an estimate and subjected to the physical and learning conditions of swimmer.



Level 3 :
Aquatics Basic Advance (Front Crawl Stroke)

Duration : 16 - 20 lesson


Level 4 :
Aquatics Intermediate (Backstroke)

Duration : 16 - 20 lessons


Level 5 :
Aquatics Intermediate Advance (Butterfly stroke)

Duration : 20 - 24 lessons

Program Details :-
Swimmer in this category (level 3 - 5) can look forward to learning new strokes such as Front Crawl, Backstroke and butterfly. You will learn proper stroke mechanics, breathing skills, as well as coordination skills required of each stroke. The general goal of this class allow you to swim more efficiency and effortlessly - this will definitely make swimming more enjoyable. 



TRAINING INFO:-
  • Duration per session : 45 minutes 
  • Venue : Available at all Sport Singapore Swimming Complexes. Private lessons can be conducted at Condo Pool, Private Residences upon request. 
  • Swim Fee is based on per swimmer per month basis. Subjected to 4 lessons in a month* (Swim School's Terms and Conditions apply). 
  • Training Days : WEEKDAYS [Monday - Thursday]; WEEKENDS [Friday - Sunday]

Listed below are some ways you can improve your comfort level and succeed in our swimming classes: -
  • Sign up for the appropriate class based on skill level. You may find guidelines as mentioned above to assist you in determining the correct class level. 
  • Attend all classes and arrive on time. 
  • Review the skills taught after each class. You can monitor your progress. The class will be taught in accordance with the skill level of the group (Performance-based). 
  • If you have concerns about your progress, please speak to your instructor either before or after the training. 
  • It is important to realize that all people learn differently, especially some of the more challenging motor skills in a foreign environment (the water) where breathing must be managed when the face is in the water. Do not be discouraged if you are not progressing up to par with your peers. Just be patient, have fun and congratulate yourself for taking up swimming lessons to improve your health and fitness. 
  • Visit the pool between classes. You need time to become comfortable in the water and to practice the skills being taught.
